  • Brand: Unknown
  • Restocking Fee: No
  • Condition: These plates are in good to very good antique condition considering their age. They have no dents or dings, and crisp crests of a bird with a cross on it's chest. On one plate the hallmarks are more clear than the other. Each plate has significant scratching on the front and back, especially in their wells. There are a few small spots of persistent tarnish. The plate with the better hallmarks on the back also has three shallow spots with silver loss and one small crease on the back; and, on the front, to the right of the crest, a tiny indentation in the border where it's crimped. The last 4 images show the scratching and other issues.

    Description

This pair of English Georgian sterling silver plates have a diameter of 9" and a combined weight of 964 grams or 31 troy ounces.
These plates are of round from with a lobed border of five sections typical of service plates of this period.  Each has a raised rim.
They are undecorated except for a crest, perhaps a rooster (with a cross on it's chest) crowing.
On the back, each is marked for the maker WS which I couldn't identify, 1782, English sterling, and London.
